La Valse

"La Valse" by Camille Claudel
I knew from that single point of contact
that he was the key phrase
that had outlived all the clichés
that had influenced countless lives
and long been forgotten

There was neither half-formed thought
nor even time for introspection
It was as solid as the balance of the song
upon hearing the first three notes
yet quicker and more familiar
more urgent and more vital

He was the watchword
whose name I did not need to know
a delicious tune in a dignified hall
of silence
an unclassified ebullient relief
from unimaginative editions of repetition

I walked confidently past my continuous
and endless longing
knowing I would surely see him again
that this was merely a delicate segment
in an unending waltz
whose swirling rhythms would carry me
into my shimmering tomorrow

All of this before my eyes could turn away

Wow.

Now there's a passionate piece.

Inspired by the photograph, a Strauss waltz and a chance meeting of a local. Not necessarily in that order.
